To patch the nVidia installer (version 173.14.09), simply get the patch in this directory, and download the pacage from nVidia.

wget http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/173.14.09/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.09-pkg0.run

Then, to patch it, drop the patch somewhere, and

sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.09-pkg1.run --apply-patch xen.patch.txt

Then, just install the "old fashioned" way by killing the xserver and window manager, and running sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux...run
