Nuts...I broke my laptop (again) |

I have had my little Averatec 3200 for a year or two now, and have battled to keep it in good shape. That doesn't count the times that I have dropped it, scratched the screen, or had to resolder the power port's contacts. Those weren't big deals. This is. I got angry at the little guy, and squeezed the sides of the screen as I closed it. The next thing I know after I reboot, the screen is white in a large space on the right side, and has some black through it. I cracked the LCD. I guess I deserved that for some of the stuff I had done, or something. The part of this that troubles me most is that, while I can get a new screen and fix it, the new screen itself is worth almost the value of the laptop. In its current condition, I would rate this laptop (XP 2200+,512,60gb) at $350-$400 max. The LCD new is anywhere from $150-$300. That is insane. I plan on trying to grab one cheaper on eBay. The fact that a component could cost more than the machine is stupid, though. Oh well, I guess I will either have to fix it, or sell it as is. Either way, I plan to eventually sell it, and get a more powerful lappy. Until then, ARRGH!
