Windows Vista Ensures You Know What Your Computer is Doing

I decided to run Windows Defender, since I recently was the lucky recipient of a rootkit. Needless to say, Defender found nothing. It seems Microsoft has made a special effort to ensure that the users of Vista aren't plagued with the problems of having actual control or knowledge over what goes on inside their computer. (See "Your Computer is Running Normally..." What the heck does that mean?)
